Kyle Carlson

As a member of a profession and social class with significant privilege, I feel an obligation to work towards broad-based social justice. To that end, I have gained legal experience in environmental law and LGBT civil rights organizations. My experience working for administrative agencies and industry clients has taught me that balancing economic resource development against environmental protection is exceedingly complex. Aiding industry's good faith efforts to comply with the wide universe of environmental statues, regulations, enforcement actions, and consent decrees can be one of the most efficient and effective ways to reduce environmental damage without unduly slowing economic growth. I would like to find long-term employment in Chicago in environmental practice. Due to newly passed student loan repayment and forgiveness programs, my job search will not be biased against governmental agencies or 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. Once established, I intend to devote a portion of my professional time to pro bono work. In this legal market, I understand the importance of adaptability. My wide array of experiences has afforded me a flexible skill set and positive attitude that can meet the professional needs and culture of a range of employment opportunities.
